Simple Machines in Action

This was incredibly fun! Kiddo enjoyed all of the various building exercises and gave her hours of entertainment. Most of them are constructed well enough that they are in her room ready to be used again. Next up we'll be learning about Amazing Women in History and brushing up on our math skills in preparation for the new school year.

Archimedes' screw

After 3-4 uses the egg cracked.
Yes, I am missing a wall.
Newton's first law demonstrated with an egg trick.
Water wheel. If you look closely you can see the knight on the string.
History of electricity documentary.
Loaded up!
Building a K'nex trebuchet.
Old K'nex are great if you can find them. The newer ones are smaller and less sturdy. The ammo could be launched 10' of so. With some practice she was able to knock specific targets off the table.

Marshmallow catapults. They are quite powerful! We launched mallows and popcorn for 20' + while watching Robots. Both were giggle inducing.

The windlass was simple but we never turn down an excuse to use the drill.
